Everybody Wants to Stay Here and Not Go Anywhere Else!
I always wanted to work in a Peruvian restaurant when I moved to the Midwest. It was difficult back then (24 years ago) to introduce Latin American cuisine. So I decided to go another route; I did a Mexican thing, which is my bread and butter still now. I always hoped to have the opportunity to open up a restaurant, especially in this area: the Central West End.
I fell in love because it reminded me so much of walking around a few streets in New York City. In 2018, I was very fortunate to find a little place, which is Cocina Latina right now. Nothing was available back then, and nothing seems to be available in the next 10 or 20 years because this area is very popular. Everybody wants to stay here and not go anywhere else. I finally (was) fortunate to find this little place.
Second time I am here since few weeks after they've opened. I got to say, the taste of the food has been improved. Definitely coming back.lomo saltado and the anticucho that I had was amazing. My wife got Aji de Gallina and Chicken Tamales. She says the 5aste reminds her of her days back in Peru where she grew up.

When you’re craving empanadas, check out this quaint little CWE spot. We made are our way through the delicious appetizer menu, then each had an entree— too much food meant we left with leftovers.

Excellent little restaurant in the CWE. I went on a Wednesday and it was almost empty, (COVID-19 had something to do with that) so service was good. Dishes were decent and the right proportion, overall good experience
